Sarah Stephenson

Hello Saint Helens,

I just wanted to introduce myself to those of you who may not know me yet. I grew up in Columbia County and continue to choose Saint Helens as my home because I love this city and its people. As a small business owner and HR consultant, I spend my days listening to people, solving problems, and developing processes, programs, and policies that address the real needs of other small businesses. These are skills that would positively impact the Saint Helens City Council.

I am running for City Council because SaintHelens deserves a council that puts residents first. I plan to put residents first by:

• Directing funding toward the departments that touch daily life most, like our library, parks and recreation, rather than continuing to concentrate resources where they’re already concentrated.

• Pushing back on tax increases that residents don’t support when the city hasn’t shown enough accountability or delivered enough value in return for the added cost to residents.

• Bringing a new voice to council meetings that represents residents who don’t currently have a voice at the table.

I’m not running because I want the councilor title, nor personally benefit, or have political ambitions. I’m running because this city has given me a home, and I want to give something back by being a councilor who listens intently, asks honest questions, and makes decisions with the people of this city in mind.

Saint Helens is my home, and I am asking for the chance to serve it well.
